Early Drop-Off/Pick-Up Hours: Residential CCO Applications & Fence Permits & Garage Permits ONLY - 7:30 am-4:30 pm

Regular Hours: All Business 8:30 am-4:30 pm

About the Planning Division

Functions of the Planning Division include:

  • Process, review and research Development Applications to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment;
  • Evaluate Master Plan and Municipal Land Use Regulations;
  • Prepare Redevelopment Needs Analysis and Redevelopment Plans;
  • New Ordinances for Development;
  • Community Development Block Grants (CDBG);
  • Council on Affordable Housing (COAH);
  • Downtown West Orange Alliance;
  • Open Space & Recreation Committee and Plan;
  • Rent Leveling Board;
  • West Orange Arts Council;
  • West Orange Historic Preservation Commission;
  • West Orange Housing & Rehabilitation Program;
  • Section 8

Application and Permits

For some permits, prior zoning approval is required. Zoning approval is required for, but not limited to the following:

  • Additions
  • Decks
  • Driveways
  • Dumpsters
  • Fences
  • Greenhouses
  • New Home Construction
  • Outdoor Playsets
  • Pools
  • Sheds
  • Standby Power Generators
  • Temporary Storage Containers

For zoning review, a copy of your property survey and if applicable, architectural plans to scale, must be submitted at time of application showing exact location and dimensions of work to be done.
