Office of Professional Responsibility

The Office of Professional Responsibility (O.P.R.) consists of the following sub-units:


  • Internal Affairs Unit
  • Accreditation Unit
  • Training Unit
  • Legal Affairs Unit


The Office of Professional Responsibility is a multi-faceted Division with diverse tasks and obligations. Among its responsibilities is the development and the regular evaluation of the Police Department’s written directives, policies and procedures in order to improve the delivery of service to the public. Other obligations include supervision and management of the police department’s Internal Affairs function, which is charged with maintaining the integrity of the agency, the Accreditation Unit, which coordinates CALEA mandates and the Training Unit, which continually updates and perpetuates the training of sworn and non-sworn agency personnel. The O.P.R. division is also responsible for Staff Inspections within the agency as well as any legal affairs involving the agency and its members.
