Human Relations Commission

Established by municipal ordinance in 1992, the Human Relations Commission develops and implements programs and initiatives that encourage a positive and constructive dialogue within the township about diversity and diversity related issues. The commission encourages the inclusion of all people in the leadership of civic and community issues and groups. The commission is involved in community-building tasks and strategies that enhance and sustain respect among different groups and people.

Education Programs
The commission enlists the cooperation of all township departments to achieve its stated goals and work in conjunction with the West Orange Board of Education to acclimate young people as part of the community fabric. The commission  develops formal and informal educational programs to eradicate all types of discrimination based on race, color, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, marital status, physical or mental disability, age, socioeconomic standing, or sexual orientation.
