The West Orange Health Center is located in the John P. Renna House, 10 Gaston Street, and provides health services for West Orange residents who are 60 years of age and older. Most services offered at the Center are either prevention or detection oriented. The staff does not diagnose, prescribe for or treat any patients except for podiatry care. If an assessment reveals a medical problem requiring treatment, clients will be referred to their physician.
Nursing Assessment: The Nursing Program evaluates the total health status of the senior citizen. Included in this assessment are multi-screenings for the detection of hypertension, diabetes, hearing deficits and urological problems. Health problems are monitored via physician requests.
Home Nursing Visits: Nursing assessments and maintenance to home bound seniors are performed. Referrals are made to appropriate agencies for supportive and supplemental care.
Vision Screenings: Screenings for visual acuity, tests for glaucoma, cataracts, and refractions are offered to seniors, for those financially eligible.
Podiatry Care: Evaluation and treatment of foot disorders is performed by a Podiatrist for income eligible residents. Medicare assignment accepted.
File of Life: File that will be accessible to emergency medical personnel that stats any medications that are taken and/or any other important personal health information. A health history card is placed in a magnetic file holder and put on the front of the refrigerator door.
